Wool and the Gang: Billie Jean Yarn


WHAT’S HER STORY?
Billie Jean looks and feels like a light, smooth cotton, but it’s actually leftover denim. Offcuts get scooped up and re-spun rather than heading to a landfill. Billie Jean saves 20,000 litres of water for every kilogram of upcycled denim – she's one cool yarn.

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO KNIT WITH?
Unique, Cool and Light, with beautiful drape, a year-round yarn that is especially perfect for the warmer months.

Our Billie Jean Yarn is made from pre-consumer denim scraps and offcuts which are ground back into fibres and re-spun into yarn. We don’t use any nasty dye fixers or chemicals in this process, however this does mean some dye may transfer to your needles or hands while you’re stitching.

WHAT CAN I MAKE?
Billie Jean Yarn is the perfect yarn for those summer knits – or year–round wardrobe staples. Use it for sweaters, tops and accessories.

Stocking Stitch, Arcade Stitch, 1x1 Rib Stitch, Double Crochet

COMPOSITION
Indigo Denim: 14% denim scraps, 56% navy knit scraps and 30% cotton.
Dirty Denim: 26% upcycled cotton, 40% denim scraps and 34% cotton.
Raw Denim: 70% denim scraps and 30% cotton.
Washed Out Denim: 12% denim scraps, 50% upcycled cotton and 38% cotton.
Ecru White 60% upcycled cotton and 40% cotton.
Reclaimed Blue: 32% navy knit scraps, 33% upcycled cotton and 35% cotton.

Washing Instructions
Hand wash only in cold or lukewarm water - do not exceed 30 degrees / Use a delicates hand wash detergent / Give your knits a gentle squeeze and leave in the water for a few minutes / Once done, roll in a clean towel to remove excess water and then dry flat.

Note: as this product is upcycled denim it will perform as most blue jeans and there is possibility it will fade during the first wash and have a small amount of colour transfer.
